Property investor and car parking operator, Glenbrook and Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS), have submitted full comprehensive planning applications for the £280 million Whitehall Riverside project in Leeds city.

The project features 500 build-to-rent apartments spread across two blocks of 15 and 18 storeys, with ground-floor commercial space. It also has superb residents’ amenities spread across the ground and first floors, as well as vast terrace gardens overlooking River Aire, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and residents’ health and well-being.

The development also contains specific proposals for a smart-enabled and energy-efficient office building of 118,165 sq ft, as well as a state-of-the-art multi-story car park and CitiPark mobility hub. This will provide one of the largest EV charging stations in the UK’s north using renewable and sustainable electricity.

In future phases, two further buildings, including an aparthotel and additional office space, are envisioned.

Craig Burrow, Development Director at Town Centre Securities explained that the new Whitehall Riverside concept has been developed for today’s needs but with flexibility in mind to adapt to the increasing requirements of workspace, residential, electric vehicles, and the visitor economy.

Developing the Leeds City riverside

Re-landscaping forms and public realm projects will create a new riverside park while also improving the biodiversity of the riverbank environment. A network of interconnected green streets and bike pathways will increase connectivity and access to the existing riverside, resulting in a high-quality destination that will attract new residents and visitors.

TCS has owned the land for many years and has always recognized the ability to create a unique neighbourhood in Leeds’ West End, which is now experiencing tremendous activity and development. Over the years, they have worked closely with Leeds City Council to bring forward the early phases of No.1 Whitehall Riverside (offices), Whitehall Waterfront (residential), and, most recently, the Premier Inn (hotel), which was completed in 2017.
