Following its tenth year in the country and the opening of a new office and repair center in Cape Town in 2021, technology multinational Fujifilm South Africa has turned the first sod of the construction of a new Fujifilm head office in Sandton, which forms part of Fujifilm’s ongoing commitment to the country.

Designed by Empowered Space Architects, the five-storey 999-square-meter structure featuring office space, a Fujifilm repair center, and, most crucially, the Fujifilm Technology Centre Africa, will be built at 18 Holt Street in accordance with the company’s group international climate action objectives of producing net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by the fiscal year ending March 2041.

Planed energy-efficient solutions for the New Fujifilm Head Office in Sandton

According to Fujifilm, the first energy-efficient solutions for the new building include the use of motion sensors and day/night lighting, energy-efficient plumbing that uses less water, rainwater harvesting, and the installation of solar panels on the roof.

Furthermore, Fujifilm South Africa is collaborating with green energy specialists to further study ideas to make the building more environmentally friendly, such as the potential of integrating a vegetable patch on the building’s roof, the business says.

Bantry Development is constructing the offices with whom Fujifilm has had a working connection since the construction of the Fujifilm warehouse in Roodepoort in 2017.

Boost to Fujifilm services

Fujifilm Technology Centre Africa serves as a display and training facility for the company’s many areas. This includes cutting-edge solutions in graphic communication, such as wide-format printing, packaging, commercial digital, and commercial offset; medical systems, such as radiography, mammography, pathology, and X-ray diagnostics; and Imaging Solutions, such as Fujifilm Instax instant cameras and printers and Fujifilm X-series and GFX mirrorless cameras.

According to the firm, Fujifilm clients will be able to view the latest technology in action, receive up-to-date training, and go hands-on with a variety of products and solutions at the Technology Centre Africa.
