Plans are under development for the construction of 10 gigawatts of wind and solar power plants in Morrocco. The government of the North African country is reported in talks with Adani Group, an Indian multinational conglomerate, for the implementation of the project.

Reportedly the 10-gigawatt solar and wind projects in Morocco will be Adani’s largest major power development outside India. The company intends to make green hydrogen with the help of locally produced solar and wind energy.

The 10 gigawatts of wind and solar power in Morrocco to be built in two phases

The construction of the 10GW of wind and solar power plants in Morrocco will be carried out in two phases. Each phase will have a total of five gigawatts. The electricity produced is anticipated to satisfy both local and European demand for electricity and green hydrogen.

Adani is collaborating with the OCP Group, a major mining and fertilizer company in the nation, as well as the Moroccan Agency for sustainable energy (Masen). Reportedly, Adani Group wants to provide hydrogen to the state-owned fertilizer company to make green ammonia.

Additionally, Adani Group also intends to take advantage of the MENA region’s potential for green hydrogen production. Adani hopes to surpass all other clean energy producers in the globe by the end of the decade. This will be done by developing renewable energy projects through its renewables-focused business with a total capacity of 25 gigawatts.
