A 26-Story community in Maryland dubbed “The Reserve at Strathmore” is set for construction by Experience Senior Living(ESL). The project will be developed on a 300,000-square-foot property. It will feature a total of 240 units designed specifically for housing seniors. However, it will not only cater to independent living but also to assisted living and memory care.

The Reserve at Strathmore is only a small part of the upcoming Strathmore Square mixed-use development planned for the area. Fivesquares Development is working towards building this mega project which will eventually include up to 2,000 residential units. In addition, the master-planned project also features a 35,000-square-foot ground-floor retail component and a 1.25-acre central park.

ESL is working alongside Fivesquares and has plans of breaking ground on the project by the fourth quarter of 2023. The Reserve at Strathmore community will be located between the Metro parking garage and historic Rock Creek Park, in north Bethesda. According to the developers, their goal is to create purposeful communities where residents, families, and team members can celebrate life together.

Furthermore, the development will include programs and activities for engagement between the seniors’ community and other residential properties within Strathmore Square. This will make the community into an intergenerational housing development.

Development plans for the Reserve at Strathmore

The Reserve at Strathmore will feature several exclusive amenities such as a swimming pool, pickleball court, spa, and professional salon. The development will also include a smart fitness room, along with a private memory care courtyard. In addition, residents will have access to dining venues, a bar, a business center, a sky lounge, and a planned performing arts component.

Unlike other communities, The Reserve at Strathmore is focused on providing high luxury for an aging demographic. ESL’s President, Phillip Barklow, also pointed out some appealing features of the community. Barklow mentioned that the design was particularly focused on arts and immersive culture. Therefore, he said the plan for the community will include incorporating a  performing arts component and several high-end resort-style amenities.
