A US$ 300M project for the expansion of the OCC Rusayl Clinker Plant in Oman is in the cards. The Oman Cement Company abbreviated and commonly known as OCC, is currently in the process of evaluating bids placed for the main works of the project.

The bids were floated by the Oman-based company engaged in the manufacture and sale of cement and related products, on 20 December 2021. The bid submission deadline was on 28 February 2022.

Referencing the MEED report, the OCC Rusayl Clinker Plant expansion project has prequalified a number of contractors. These contractors are FlSmidth, ThyssenKrupp, KHD Humboldt Wedag, and the China National Machinery Industry Corporation.

FlSmidth is a Denmark-headquartered company whilst KHD Humboldt Wedag is a Germany-based company. 

An overview of the OCC Rusayl Clinker Plant expansion project

The expansion project will feature the construction of a brand new production line (Line 4). The new line will have an output capacity of well up to 10,000 tonnes of cement in a day.

Moreover, the OCC Rusayl Clinker Plant expansion project will include upgrading works for the existing production line (Line 3). Currently, the existing line produces 4,000 tonnes of cement in a day. However, after the project’s completion, the production capacity will increase from 4,000 to 5,000 tonnes of cement in a day.

The OCC Rusayl Clinker Plant expansion project will reportedly contribute to the Oman Cement Company’s efforts to meet the ever-growing demand(s) for cement. Additionally, the project, which aims to have reached completion by 2025, will reduce the country’s import dependence.

As it stands, the firm manufactures cement that meets American, European, and Omani standards. The company has also received an array of awards and accreditation. These include the award for the Best Environmental Initiative, the Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Excellence, and the award for the best five factories in the Sultanate of Oman.

Bearing the approval of the American Petroleum Insitute (API), the firm has the distinction of being the prestigious supplier of High-Quality Oil Well Cement.
