The Burj Azizi is expected to stand at a height of 725 meters. “Burj Azizi’s height was finalized following all authority approvals. This is inclusive of approvals from Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Dubai Municipality which were much needed for a building rising to such a height,” stated Farhad Azizi who is the CEO of Azizi Group.

“This height is now confirmed and will not be changed,”he added.

Challenges Facing the Project

“The most significant challenge facing this project is of the tower being tall yet being constructed on such a small and narrow plot,” Azizi mentioned. With this entailing not just a heavy building load, but also a substantial wind load. Therefore, new and previously unseen construction methodologies are being applied on this skyscraper scraper project.

“Additionally, the vertical circulation of the building must be looked into – aspects such as how the elevators will function – with such a high volume of vertical traffic. We have collaborated with Kone to innovate in this domain.”

Acquiring construction materials to and from the project’s site and storing them ‘requires very thorough, meticulous planning’.

“Furthermore, its central location also poses other difficulties, for instance in regard to the loading dock that will have to serve the hotel and vertical mall’s retail spaces, that we had to overcome,” added Azizi. “Creating over 1,000 parking spaces in an area this tight also took rigorous planning.”
