Alison Brooks Architects has revealed plans for a 35-storey tower and 14-storey Olympic Park tower scheme at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London. The scheme which will soon be forwarded for planning and will form part of the International Quarter London, a section of land between the Westfield shopping centre and the park, where Lendlease is constructing a mixed-use campus. The Olympic Park tower scheme, hexagonal high-rises to be cladded with blue glazed tiles and brick will contain 350 residential houses above colonnaded ground floors with retail and community space. Lendlease revealed that the development will ‘evoke the texture and urban character’ of residential towers in early 20th century.
The developer also stated that the tower will bring a connection between the wellbeing, green space and opportunity’ – as they includes planted terraces, green roofs and ‘park ledges’ allowing greenery to spiral them up. The ‘clever massing proposal’ will signify the towers get ‘topmost possible sunlight levels,’ while the project also will contain natural trails and natural amphitheatre designed by LDA Design as part of the landscape project.
