TMEIC Corporation Americas has opened a new 280,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Waller County, Texas, expanding U.S. production of power electronics used by data centers, industrial facilities and energy infrastructure.
The Twinwood facility is TMEIC’s third American manufacturing plant and its largest and most advanced manufacturing facility among the company’s 13 global locations.
The facility represents more than $65 million in capital investment and will create more than 200 jobs in the greater Houston area. TMEIC expects employment to grow to about 500 positions as operations scale.
The opening comes as data centers and other large electricity users drive demand for equipment that can manage, protect and control power inside increasingly complex facilities.
Twinwood Facility Adds Power Electronics Manufacturing Capacity
The Twinwood facility can manufacture and assemble industrial-scale uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for the data-center market.
It will also produce high-power medium-voltage drives and other advanced power electronics products.
The building includes a client training center and technology laboratories. These facilities will support product development, customer training and technical services as TMEIC expands its U.S. operations.
The company developed the facility as part of a wider expansion of its manufacturing presence in Texas.
TMEIC already operates the Westport and Katy manufacturing facilities in the Houston metropolitan area. Its North American headquarters is also located in Houston’s Energy Corridor.
The company therefore has established a growing manufacturing and corporate presence around Houston rather than relying on Twinwood as a standalone operation.
From 2025 Groundbreaking to 2026 Opening
TMEIC broke ground on the Twinwood facility in April 2025.
The original project plan called for a 267,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on a 20-acre site, with construction completion targeted for May 2026 and production expected to begin in June 2026.
The completed facility is now reported at 280,000 square feet.
The project received public-sector support during development. The Texas Enterprise Fund awarded TMEIC a $368,838 grant, while Waller County supported the project through a property-tax abatement arrangement.
TMEIC’s expansion was also expected to generate substantial capital investment in Waller County as the company increased its U.S. manufacturing capacity.
The Twinwood opening marks the latest milestone in that expansion.
Data Centers Drive Demand for Power Equipment
The facility’s product mix places Twinwood directly within the supply chain supporting the expansion of large data centers.
Data centers require continuous, highly controlled electricity supplies to operate computing equipment. UPS systems provide backup power and help protect critical loads from interruptions and power-quality problems.
Medium-voltage drives serve a different role. They control large electric motors and support industrial processes that require high levels of electrical power.
By manufacturing both types of equipment in Texas, TMEIC is expanding domestic production of systems used across data centers, industrial facilities and other mission-critical applications.
The company’s original plans for Twinwood specifically identified the rapidly expanding data-center industry among the markets the new facility would serve.
That connection has become increasingly important as developers pursue larger data-center campuses and other energy-intensive projects across the United States.
Houston Becomes TMEIC Manufacturing Hub
Twinwood also strengthens an existing TMEIC manufacturing cluster around Houston.
The company’s Katy facility manufactures UPS systems and medium-voltage drives, while its Westport facility in Brookshire produces power-conversion systems for utility-scale photovoltaic applications.
TMEIC opened the Westport factory in 2024. The 144,000-square-foot facility expanded the company’s ability to manufacture photovoltaic power-conversion equipment in the United States.
TMEIC also moved its North American headquarters from Roanoke, Virginia, to Houston’s Energy Corridor in 2025.
The combination of manufacturing plants and headquarters operations gives the company a larger operational base in the Houston region.
Twinwood adds another major facility to that footprint and increases the company’s ability to manufacture power-electronics equipment domestically.
Facility Designed With Energy Efficiency in Mind
TMEIC incorporated renewable energy and energy storage into the Twinwood development.
The facility opened with solar power generation and a battery energy storage system.
The company said these systems form part of its effort to reduce carbon emissions and advance its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The building also includes technology laboratories and a customer training center, giving the facility functions beyond manufacturing alone.
These features are intended to support TMEIC’s customers and product development as the company expands its presence in the U.S. market.
Texas Expansion Supports Long-Term U.S. Growth
TMEIC’s Twinwood investment reflects a broader shift toward expanding domestic production of electrical and power-management equipment.
The growth of data centers, industrial electrification and energy infrastructure is creating demand for equipment that can control and protect increasingly large electrical loads.
Twinwood positions TMEIC to serve some of those markets from a manufacturing base in Texas.
The company expects the facility’s workforce to grow from more than 200 new positions to about 500 as operations scale.
For Waller County and the greater Houston region, the project adds a large manufacturing operation and hundreds of potential skilled jobs.
For TMEIC, the opening strengthens a Texas manufacturing network that now spans power supplies, medium-voltage drives and renewable-energy power-conversion equipment.
The company will now move from building out Twinwood to scaling production at the new facility, with its long-term growth tied to the expanding demand for power electronics across data centers, energy and industry.
The expansion of U.S. manufacturing is also taking place beyond power electronics. Hitachi Energy is investing $528 million in a new transformer manufacturing facility in Mississippi, adding major production capacity for a different segment of the country’s electrical equipment industry.
