The Asan UAE Gastroenterology Hospital project is a 65-bed, nine-floor specialist facility being built at Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 by South Korea’s Asan Medical Centre in partnership with UAE-based Scope Investment. Construction formally began in July 2024, when an official groundbreaking ceremony was held at the DHCC Phase 2 site and attended by the Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, and the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai, Moon Byung Jun, alongside senior executives from both Asan Medical Centre and Scope Investment.

An Educational Hub Emerges Alongside a Clinical One

Beyond its clinical mandate, Asan Medical Centre has confirmed plans to operate the facility as a regional medical education hub, bringing Korean clinical expertise and training frameworks to the Middle East for the first time. The hospital will serve patients not only from the UAE but from across the GCC, targeting those who have historically travelled to East Asia for advanced gastrointestinal oncology, liver transplantation management, and pediatric gastroenterology treatments that have been largely unavailable within the region. Construction remains on track for completion in 2026. The project aligns with a much broader healthcare expansion wave unfolding across the Emirates, including Arada’s recently announced AED 2 billion healthcare network programme, which will add 800 beds across multiple UAE facilities as developers and healthcare operators race to meet rising regional demand for specialised and high-acuity medical services.
