Camden Film Quarter project to deliver studios, homes and creative campus

Camden Film Quarter project will deliver 11 purpose-built sound stages for film and television production. Additionally, the scheme includes more than 100,000 square feet of creative workspace. It will also provide 485 new homes, with half designated as affordable housing. Places for People will deliver 243 affordable homes within the residential mix. Meanwhile, Oxygen Studios will operate the sound stages across the production campus.

SPPARC designed the overall masterplan with a focus on clustered creative infrastructure. Additionally, Broadway Malyan designed the residential components within the development. Montagu Evans supported planning strategy, townscape analysis, and heritage coordination. Spacehub contributed landscape architecture, including 1.1 hectares of public open space. Momentum Transport Consultancy designed transport access and mobility improvements for the site. Atelier Ten integrated sustainability strategies across energy and environmental performance systems.

The scheme also includes 301 new trees and improved pedestrian connections. Furthermore, it restores the Grade II-listed Kentish Town Police Station. The campus will host the National Film and Television School and London Screen Academy. Together, they will support more than 500 learners in creative training programs.

Camden Film Quarter project is expected to generate significant employment across construction and operations. Developers estimate around 3,960 direct operational jobs at full completion.

Additionally, the scheme will support approximately 5,155 net additional jobs across the economy. However, construction phasing details remain subject to contractor procurement outcomes. Furthermore, the project responds to rising global demand for UK studio capacity.

Streaming platforms and film producers continue to expand production requirements in London. Consequently, Camden’s development strengthens the city’s competitiveness in the global screen industry. Although timelines remain flexible, enabling works may begin once contracts are awarded.
