Google has filed to develop Project Rise 1A and Rise 2A data centers for development in Vernon, Texas. The two projects are expected to have a combined investment value of $1 billion. Moreover, they have been filed by Planton Investments LLC and Platon Investments LLC, respectively. They also both list 1600 Ampitheatre Parkway, California, as their address, which is the Googleplex campus. Project Rise 1A is located at FM 2897 S in Vernon and saw work begin on March 31, 2026.

According to the filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), 991,000 sq ft (92,065 sqm) of floor space will be developed, with construction work completed by the end of March 2028. On the other hand, Project Rise 2A is listed for the same location, same size, and same construction timeline as its twin. The Long Island data center project is also advancing however, its approval seems to be in jeopardy as local and state moratoria seem to be hindering its advancement. Developer Wildflower, through its WF Industrial subsidiary, was seeking to build the project. Its scope entails a 549,000 sq. ft. data center on a 79-acre plot near the village of Yaphank. Moreover, it is adjacent to the Long Island Expressway’s north service road. The site is however currently used for warehousing.

Outlook on the Project Rise 1A and 2A Data Centers by Google

The Project Rise 1A and 2A data centers by Google list the scope of work as for a “new data center with associated mechanical and electrical yards, fire lanes, security entrance, and utilities” In February of this year, Google said it would be developing a data center in Wilbarger County that would be colocated to use on-site ‘clean energy’ from US energy firm AES. Moreover, the company already has firm presence in the Texas market. It also has operational data center campuses in Midlothian and Red Oak.

Under-construction sites also include Armstrong and Haskell Counties. In June 2026, the company commenced construction of a data center at the Meitner Energy Center in Gray and Roberts Counties, Texas. Last November, Google announced a huge investment in the state, committing $40 billion through 2027. Wilbarger County is a county located in the North Texas region, between Amarillo and Wichita Falls. It is not currently a data center hotspot, with most of the state’s data centers located around Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.
