Construction industry stakeholders could benefit significantly from the initiative. Faster materials discovery may reduce development timelines for stronger concrete alternatives, corrosion-resistant alloys, low-carbon materials and energy-efficient building components. As a result, contractors could gain access to more sustainable products within shorter innovation cycles.

The company also intends to establish additional foundry capabilities to accelerate commercial deployment.

Former Apple and Google executive John Giannandrea will help establish US foundry operations. Meanwhile, semiconductor executive Abhi Talwalkar has joined the advisory board. AI pioneers Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun also support the company’s technical direction.

The UK government described the investment as another step toward strengthening Britain’s artificial intelligence ecosystem. It also complements wider government efforts to increase national AI infrastructure, computing capacity and technology investment.

Although CuspAI remains an early-stage company, its platform addresses a growing challenge facing infrastructure developers. Many emerging technologies require materials that either remain scarce or do not yet exist. Therefore, faster discovery could become essential for future construction, energy and manufacturing projects.
