The $29bn+ Goodnight data center in Armstrong Texas is expanding as Crusoe files two more data centers. The under-development campus is planned for 10001 Lima Road in Claude, Armstrong County, just east of Amarillo. Moreover, known as Project Llano, the project is being filed for under Crusoe affiliate GN DC1, LLC. Set to go live in phases from August 2026 to February 2027, the campus is set to span at least six single-story buildings.

According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, four of the buildings will span 805,380 sq. ft. (74,822 sq. m.) each, while two are set to total 484,955 sq. ft. (45,054 sqm.) each. The latest two buildings to be filed for are Buildings 3 and 4, both with an estimated construction cost of $500 million. The facilities will span 805,380 sq. ft. (74,822 sqm). Works on both have begun, with one supposedly completed this month and the other set to be finished by the end of Q1 2027.

Crusoe is also working on the world’s first nuclear data center as the project is located at the Idaho National Lab (INL) with Aalo providing the small modular reactors. The partnership will see Crusoe deploy one of its Crusoe Spark modular data centers at the facility in 2027 as a proof-of-concept project. The Spark unit will be powered directly by Aalo’s Pod reactor.

Outlook on the Goodnight Data Center in Texas by Crusoe

The Goodnight data center in Texas by Crusoe will actually feature seven buildings and offer more than 1GW. Moreover, the first phase will cover four buildings and 530MW while the second phase will cover three buildings with 500MW of capacity. A total investment of $29bn is expected to be put into the project. Aterio Research also suggests it will mirror the company’s Abilene campus. In March of this year, a fire broke out near the construction site, causing Crusoe to partially evacuate.

Elsewhere in Texas, Crusoe is developing a 1.4GW data center campus in Childress, and is behind the Abilene site being used by OpenAI. Further capacity at the Abilene campus is set to be leased to Microsoft. Recently, Crusoe said it has contracted 4.9GW of AI infrastructure spanning its data center projects, and capacity for Crusoe Cloud, and its total development pipeline exceeds 40GW (including contracted projects, sites under active tenant negotiation in advanced development).
