Inox Solar Americas has moved its 3 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Greenville, North Carolina, into the equipment installation phase, and the company says production remains on schedule for the second quarter of 2027. The 515,460 square foot plant will complement the existing 3 GW module line, according to a company announcement issued on November 2, 2026.
Inox Solar Americas, part of Inox Clean Energy and India’s INOXGFL Group, took over the site through its purchase of Boviet Solar’s North Carolina assets. Announced in May 2026, that deal carried an enterprise value of about $750 million for module and cell manufacturing, according to Inox Clean. In addition, the company has not named equipment suppliers or contractors for the cell facility.
Greenville’s cell capacity matters most to utility scale developers, and North Carolina’s earlier solar build out shows why. The 22.6 MW Speedway Solar power plant in Cabarrus County was built by Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions with Swinerton Renewable Energy as general contractor, used about 77,000 bifacial modules and entered service in December 2021. Federal plant data now list Deriva Energy, the successor to Duke Energy Renewables, as its operator, while Inox Solar Americas has signed a 767 MW module supply agreement covering three utility scale projects across North Carolina and Texas.
Inox Solar Americas Greenville Cell Facility Targets Second Quarter 2027 Production
The Inox Solar Americas Greenville cell facility has reached the equipment installation phase, with the company reporting that it remains on schedule to start production in the second quarter of 2027. The plant will cover 515,460 square feet and has a planned annual capacity of 3 GW.
Once running, the Inox Solar Americas Greenville cell facility will supply advanced monocrystalline cells to the Greenville module line, which already has 3 GW of annual capacity. Moreover, the company plans to pair its Galaxion cell technology with Gamma Series monofacial and Vega Series bifacial modules.
To put the scale in context, 3 GW of annual output is roughly the capacity of 130 plants the size of Speedway Solar. Because cell and module capacity are both rated at 3 GW, the Inox Solar Americas Greenville cell facility is sized to match the module line.
Ashok Nair, president and chief executive of Inox Solar Americas, described the progress as “an important step in building a more integrated and resilient domestic solar supply chain.” The company also said the Inox Solar Americas Greenville cell facility will use advanced automation, integrated inspection and testing, and production traceability from cell to finished module.

Inox Solar Americas Inherits Boviet Solar’s Greenville Investment
Inox Solar Americas was founded in 2026 and operates as a subsidiary of the Inox Clean Energy platform. The Greenville project began life under Boviet Solar, which the North Carolina Department of Commerce said in April 2024 would invest more than $294 million and create 908 jobs in Pitt County.
Furthermore, Boviet’s general manager said in 2025 that the module line would support up to 450 direct jobs and that cell manufacturing could later add as many as 900. The latest announcement does not restate a jobs figure for the Inox Solar Americas Greenville cell facility.
Schedule language has also shifted. When the acquisition was announced, Inox Clean said the cell capacity was expected to be commissioned by December 2026, whereas the latest guidance targets the start of production in the second quarter of 2027. Meanwhile, Inox Solar Americas announced on September 28, 2026 that the Boviet Solar website and social channels will transition gradually to the Inox Solar Americas brand.

Inox Solar Americas Ties Greenville Cell Plant to Domestic Content and Supply Deals
The company said domestic cell production is expected to help customers address domestic content requirements, Foreign Entity of Concern and Prohibited Foreign Entity considerations, and trade requirements. In addition, Inox Solar Americas said it intends to reduce dependence on imported cells and limit exposure to global supply disruptions.
On the commercial side, Inox Solar Americas signed a 767 MW module supply agreement on September 3, 2026 and an 800 MW agreement on September 8, 2026, both with unnamed US developers. Both agreements specify Vega Series bifacial modules built on Galaxion cells, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.
Together, the two agreements total about 1.57 GW, which equals roughly half of one year of the Greenville module line’s nameplate capacity. Thus, the Inox Solar Americas Greenville cell facility arrives with a visible order book ahead of its production start.
