Gamuda Berhad has secured a RM1.72 billion ($435 million) contract to construct a hyperscale data center in Port Dickson, Malaysia. Corroborated by multiple filings and industry sources, the project is a significant step in the emergence of Port Dickson as a new hyperscale corridor, distinct from the Klang Valley cluster where SunCon’s Serendah data center project is located.

The contract has been awarded to Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary, by a US-based multinational technology company. The awarding company is also widely linked in prior award for hyperscale expansion activity in the area to Gamuda.

Scope of contract includes site infrastructure works and construction, and full mechanical, electrical and plumbing. It also covers the development of a single-story hyperscale facility.

Construction is expected to start in 2026 with completion set for Q1 2028.

Impact of Gamuda Port Dickson Data Center in Malaysia

Unlike Serendah (mentioned above), Port Dickson is a greenfield hyperscale expansion zone. Here, investment is also driven by the large-scale land availability and coastal siting advantages. The potential for massive campus-style deployments also gives a swing to many of the investments in Port Dickson.

The project also ties into earlier land and infrastructure deals involving a 389-acre site acquired for data center development. The 389-acre site’s data center has an estimated capacity of up to 700MW-1GW. This also places it among the largest potential campuses in Malaysia.

Project Cost

Contract value: RM1.72 billion ($435 million)

Contract type: Full construction and MEP

The project also adds to Gamuda’s expanding data center portfolio, which already includes major hyperscale developments in Cyberjaya and Elmina.
