Liberty Energy and PowerBridge LLC have formed a joint venture to build power infrastructure for a planned 2 gigawatt (GW) data center campus in West Texas, the companies announced on July 22, 2026. The JV combines PowerBridge’s digital campus development platform with the power generation and grid management capabilities of Liberty Power Innovations (LPI), a Liberty Energy subsidiary.

Project Scope and Timeline

The JV’s initial focus is PowerBridge’s Alpha Digital Campus, a 2 GW powered campus development in West Texas designed to serve hyperscale and AI large-load customers. The first phase of the buildout will deliver more than 300 megawatts (MW) of generation capacity, with additional phases planned as the campus scales.

Power delivery is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, with deployment continuing through the first half of 2028.

How the Partnership Works

PowerBridge supplies pad-ready site infrastructure and a regional fiber conduit network built for large-load deployments. LPI will design, develop, and operate the campus’s power generation architecture, including power quality management and grid optimization systems. The JV structure aligns ownership, capital investment, and operational responsibilities across both power generation and campus development, and remains subject to finalized commercial agreements and regulatory approvals.

Beyond Alpha, the venture establishes a platform the two companies intend to use across PowerBridge’s broader pipeline of gigawatt-scale powered campus projects.

Additionally, the Alpha Digital Campus adds to a broader wave of large-scale power development across Texas. Elsewhere in the state, developers recently broke ground on a $1.7 billion, 1.2 gigawatt solar project built on the site of a former coal plant, underscoring how quickly Texas’s power generation landscape is shifting to keep pace with rising large-load demand from data centers and industry.
