Tepper Sports & Entertainment (TSE) released new renderings on July 23, 2026, offering the clearest look yet at the future of Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, as the renovation project has grown to more than $1.3 billion in total investment. The unveiling adds to a wave of major NFL stadium overhauls in 2026, following the Kansas City Chiefs unveiling of $3 billion enclosed stadium design for 2031 opening.
The renderings accompany a long-term extension of the naming rights partnership between Bank of America and the Carolina Panthers. One of the NFL’s longest-running such agreements. But the bigger story is the scale of the buildout. TSE has elected to move forward with the complete owner-elected scope of the project, plus additional design enhancements, well beyond the City of Charlotte’s fixed $650 million commitment. TSE will cover the difference, along with any cost overruns and ongoing maintenance.
What the Renderings Show
The new imagery gives fans their clearest look yet at a stadium redesigned from the ground up. Key features include:
- A 500-level social patio with sweeping views of Uptown Charlotte
- Expanded indoor-outdoor gathering spaces across every level of the stadium
- Larger, more dynamic scoreboards and displays
- Upgraded seating options and premium hospitality offerings
- An overhauled exterior with upgraded materials and a signature illuminated crown visible on the Charlotte skyline
- Expanded retail and food-and-beverage options
- Increased restroom capacity
- Flexible event spaces designed to host community, corporate and other non-gameday events
TSE says the design draws on feedback gathered through fan surveys, focus groups and online engagement, and that visual details are meant to reflect the people, places and landscapes of the Carolinas.
A New Entertainment Venue
Among the most notable additions is a standalone entertainment venue with capacity for 4,400 people. The venue is expected to host between 80 and 100 events a year. While also serving as an enhanced hospitality space on Panthers gamedays.
Construction Timeline
The multi-year renovation is being phased to keep Bank of America Stadium in use throughout construction. Interior work is underway in 2026, with fan-facing elements scheduled to begin in 2027. The phasing is designed to allow the Panthers and Charlotte FC to continue playing home games at the stadium without interruption.
Naming Rights Extension
Alongside the renderings, Bank of America and the Panthers announced a long-term extension of their naming rights agreement for the stadium. The partnership dates back to the team’s founding in the early 1990s, when former Bank of America CEO Hugh McColl helped secure the NFL expansion franchise for the Carolinas.
“The long-term extension with Bank of America reflects the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to the Carolinas,” said David Tepper, owner and chairman of Tepper Sports & Entertainment. “Our goal is to create experiences that enhance the passion and energy of the region while transforming this corridor into a weekend destination for world-class sports, entertainment and community events.”
Brian Moynihan, chair and chief executive officer of Bank of America, pointed to the bank’s roughly 20,000 Charlotte-area employees and its history in the city dating to 1874 as part of the rationale for the renewed deal.
Charlotte Mayor Rob Harrington called the stadium “one of our city’s crown jewels,” citing its role supporting local jobs and the broader economy.
