A new 1-gigawatt AI data center campus planned in Nueces County has moved into the execution phase after an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract was awarded for the Beacon Point project, a large-scale development designed to support growing U.S. demand for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure.
Jacobs has secured a sole-source engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract from Hut 8 for the development of the Beacon Point AI data center campus in Nueces County.
The project marks the second U.S. AI data center campus that Jacobs will deliver for Hut 8, following its previously announced EPCM role at the River Bend campus in Louisiana. The latest award expands the partnership between the two companies as demand for AI and high-performance computing infrastructure continues to grow across the United States.
Beacon Point is being developed under Hut 8’s power-first greenfield development model and is planned as a multi-phase AI data center campus designed to support up to 1 gigawatt of total capacity. The company said the campus has secured an interconnection agreement covering the full utility capacity of the site, creating a pathway for future expansion.
Jacobs Deploys Digital Twin Technology at Beacon Point
Under the EPCM contract, Jacobs will oversee design, procurement integration and construction management activities for the campus. The company also plans to deploy its newly launched digital twin platform at the site to simulate critical infrastructure assets during development and commissioning.
The technology reduces project risks, accelerates commissioning activities, and shortens the time needed to bring AI workloads online.
“ This follow-on award underscores Hut 8’s confidence in Jacobs’ ability to deliver complex AI infrastructure with speed, safety and certainty,” Jacobs Chair and Chief Executive Officer Bob Pragada said in a statement.
Asher Genoot said Beacon Point marks the company’s second power-first campus and the second project where Jacobs serves as EPCM lead.
The project is currently advancing through design and integrated procurement phases, with initial energization and commissioning targeted for 2027. Phased delivery approach is intended to support the rapid deployment of large-scale AI infrastructure as computing demand accelerates.
