In the Dayton area, there is over $1 billion in private and public construction projects that will be completed this year or are being planned for upcoming years.
Developers claim that projects represent economic strength in the Dayton region.
The amount of construction varies significantly from the new-coming chain gas stations in small communities to multimillion buildings with Honda/LG, SEMCORP, Dayton Children’s Wright Patterson Air Force Base and former Mendelson headquarters among others.
Such projects are anywhere from a planning phase — without even shovels in the ground yet, or mere days away (perhaps) for opening.
There’s a lot to watch. If work persists, these initiatives will pave the way for thousands of future jobs in and around Dayton.
The following are some of the top construction projects in Dayton:
Joby Aviation Inc.
This marked a startling revelation last year. Last September, Joby — an electric VTOL aircraft manufacturer based in California – announced a plan to construct up 500 per year air taxis at a facility near the Dayton International Airport, located at Concorde Drive (3571).
The Postal Service used to occupy the building, but it is empty now. Despite the silence from Joby about its development progress, it is predicted that there will be a construction this year.

That’s likely the most prominent construction projects in Dayton,” said Dave Dickerson, Miller-Valentine Construction president for business development who knows something about local construction.
Honda LG Energy Solution joint venture plant
Another large-scale manufacturing project, but this one already half done.
Announced in the fall of 2022, with a curtailed groundbreaking last February, this Fayette County plant will host Honda-LG – an automotive venture that produces lithium-ion batteries for Honda and Acura EV models set to release on North American markets.
However, the plant is still planned to be finished by end of 2024 as a Honda spokesman noted in recent days. In 2025, the mass production of pouch-type lithium ion batteries will begin.
As for the progress in construction, work on reinforced concrete and starting with shaping of the building is said to have gone well so far by Rick Riggle-the chief operating officer at LG Energy Solution-Honda battery plant joint venture. We are doing everything we can towards completion within 2024 as planned.”
The Greater Dayton School
However, The Greater Dayton School is an independent school created under the auspices of Kids and Community Partners project by Connor Group that continues to receive its attention. This notable building has been growing beside the junction of Mad and Great Miami Rivers in Deeds Park.
The new 10-acre facility designed by Moody Nolan architects stands near RiverScape Metro Park and costs $45 million. It is due to open this year.
Dayton Arcade
The renovation of the Dayton Arcade on its northern side deserves an acknowledgement. ;
The first phase of the arcade project, which is estimated around $94 million provided new apartments, offices and co-working spaces as well as classroooms conference rooms arts space etc.
The second phase will redesign and extend the northern arm of nine-building complex.
Dave Williams, one of the senior development directors from Cross Street Partners who is among Arcade’s main developers dubbed it as ‘Arcade 2.0.’
That’s was some construction projects in Dayton to take on 2024.
