The Indonesia high-speed railway will revolutionize travel between the two cities, reducing the current three-hour journey to just 40 minutes. President Widodo marveled at the innovative technology, the swiftness of construction, and the pioneering payment model adopted for the project, all of which represent a new era for the country.
With a press of a touchscreen and a signature, President Widodo officially launched the 142-kilometer high-speed railway. Subsequently, he joined a diverse group, including government officials, diplomats, artists, and social media influencers, on the journey. President Widodo revealed the bullet train’s official name – WHOOSH, inspired by the sound of a swiftly moving train. The president emphasized the importance of embracing new endeavors. He drew parallels between the bullet train and Indonesia’s metro rail transit and light rail transit. Furthermore, he underlined the significance of tackling challenges head-on, recognizing that experiences, though sometimes costly, are invaluable stepping stones in the journey of progress, particularly concerning the Indonesia high-speed railway.
