The Oman Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has announced tenders for the completion of the third, fourth and fifth phases of the Adam-Haima-Thumrait expressway, which will be 400 km long and connect the capital regions of Muscat and Duqm with Dhofar, reports Muscat Daily.

Route will bypass the sultanate’s congested residential and commercial areas, making it a faster way to connect the vilayats of Dhofar, the report said, citing a ministry statement.

MTCIT, which issued the tender in consultation with the General Secretariat of the Tender Commission, said the tender is open only to companies from Oman and Saudi Arabia registered with the Tender Commission.

The 717.5 km long Adam Haima Thumrait expressway project is among the government’s strategic projects.

The ministry had previously completed 280 km of a dual carriageway that began in Wilayat di Adam in A’Dakhiliyah province and ended in Umm Al-Zamayem in Al-Wusta province, said Said bin Hamoud bin Said al Ma’awali, minister for transport, communication and information technology.

“The remainder will again be awarded to Wilayat Haima Center (37.5 km) through public tender to be implemented in the coming period to complete the double road from Adama to Haima,” he added.
