The implementation of the $500 million expansion project of a theme park in Missouri is gradually taking shape. The Silver Dollar City theme park, nestled in Missouri’s Ozark Mountains has been operational since 1960. The revamp project seeks to add an additional 1,200 acres and a new resort. Furthermore, the construction and improvements are expected to span over the next decade and cost up to half a billion dollars.

Though not disclosing the name of the builder, recent insights note that the park’s ambition is taking shape, as work steadily progresses. Silver Dollar City Parks & Resorts is positive that once completed, the project will serve as a compliment to the theme park, providing new resources and amenities. The plan is the largest investment in the company’s 65-year history, a monumental achievement. It is also expected that the project will commission the debut of the Silver Dollar City Resort, the first resort in America’s Heartland.

The Current Scope of Implementation on the Missouri Theme Park

The scope of implementation of the Missouri Theme park in Branson seeks to complement what is already there. The 1000-acre park that opened in 1960 offers various recreational sites. These include 12 stage venues, over 40 rides and attractions, 18 restaurants, and 60 shops. It also includes 100 resident craftsmen in fields such as blacksmithing, who act as part of the park’s entertainment. One of the areas under construction is the 262-room resort. Once completed, it is expected to feature vistas of the Ozark Mountains and Table Rock Lake.

It will also have direct access to Silver Dollar City. “Over the next decade, we will mindfully transform 1,200 acres into an authentic, only-in-the-Ozarks destination starting with our first resort,” said Brad Thomas, Silver Dollar City Parks & Resorts president. It is elemental to note that this is not the only tourism project that is underway as Missouri seeks to diversify its options. Other projects such as that in Osage Beach are also taking shape, steered by SkyView Partners and Tegethoff Development.

The Missouri theme park Act is of monumental significance in the region, promoting the region’s tourism and recreation. Silver Dollar City has made strides in ensuring that it provides the best, unveiling projects such as:

  • New Coaster: Fire in the Hole, an enclosed powered coaster, opened in 2024, was built by Rocky Mountain Construction.
  • Heritage Railroad: The Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train began in 1962 and still runs a 2 ft. Narrow-Gauge Steam Railroad, with a train robbery skit halfway into the 1.6-mile ride.
  • Theme Park Expansion: A 10-year plan was issued with the first phase being a Resort hotel expected to finish up in late 2026. The hotel will grant access to the theme park like no other and offer never-before-seen views of the Ozark Mountains and Table Rock Lake.
  • Water Park: Currently building on an area of 13 acres, an outdoor water park will open at the end of 2026. That will include water slides and waves for all ages. It will also include all levels of thrilling excitement, private cabanas, and tropical treats
