Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Lenovo Manufacturing Project continues progressing after construction works advanced on the $2 billion technology production facility within Riyadh Integrated. The development forms part of Saudi Arabia’s wider industrial expansion strategy under Vision 2030 and aims to establish a regional manufacturing hub for laptops, desktops, servers, and smart devices. Moreover, the project supports the Kingdom’s efforts to localize advanced manufacturing and strengthen supply chain resilience across the Middle East and Africa.
Lenovo and Saudi-backed Alat officially broke ground on the facility in early 2025 following the completion of a strategic investment agreement valued at $2 billion. The manufacturing campus occupies a 200,000-square-meter site inside Riyadh Integrated, which operates under the Special Integrated Logistics Zone near King Khalid International Airport.
Riyadh Lenovo Manufacturing Project enters advanced construction phase
Current project updates in 2026 indicate that construction and operational preparations have entered advanced stages. Lenovo recently inaugurated its regional headquarters in Riyadh, while Saudi engineers trained abroad have returned to support the project’s technical workforce development. Additionally, trial production activities reportedly took place ahead of the planned commercial manufacturing launch in 2026.
The facility is expected to produce up to two million devices annually during its initial operational phase. Future expansion plans could significantly increase production volumes as Lenovo strengthens its manufacturing presence outside China. Industry analysts also expect the Riyadh complex to become Lenovo’s largest production facility beyond its domestic market.
Construction works continue across multiple sections of the development, including manufacturing halls, logistics infrastructure, administrative facilities, and technology support systems. Furthermore, the project integrates sustainability-focused construction standards and automated manufacturing technologies designed to improve operational efficiency.
Riyadh Lenovo Manufacturing Project supports Saudi industrial expansion
Saudi Arabia continues attracting global industrial investors into electronics manufacturing, metals processing, and advanced technologies. The Riyadh Lenovo Manufacturing Project complements other large-scale industrial developments, including the recently announced Dammam Copper Plant, a $566m Chinese-Saudi joint venture focused on copper processing and recycling infrastructure.
Together, the projects highlight Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a regional manufacturing and industrial construction hub. The Kingdom continues investing heavily in logistics zones, industrial infrastructure, and technology-focused developments to diversify its economy beyond oil revenues.
The Riyadh facility will also strengthen local supply chains by supporting component sourcing, logistics operations, and technical workforce development. Consequently, the project could create thousands of direct and indirect jobs across Saudi Arabia’s industrial and technology sectors.

The Scope of Implementation of the Saudi Lenovo Production Plant

Lenovo signed a collaboration agreement with Alat to facilitate setting up the Saudi Lenovo production plant. Moreover, Lenovo secured a $2bn investment deal with Alat to manufacture computer devices in the kingdom. The funding is expected to facilitate construction and the establishment of a regional headquarters for the Middle East and African Market. The headquarters will include customer centers, research and development centers and manufacturing facilities. Once completed, the company aims to create 39,000 direct jobs and achieve a direct non-oil GDP contribution of $9.3bn. The Saudi Lenovo production plant is one of the aims Alat has in ensuring that it achieves its objectives outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030. Alat aims to manufacture more than 30 product categories such as robotic systems and communication systems. Moreover, it also aims to include advanced heavy machinery used in construction, building and mining.
