Hellenic Cables is moving forward with the development of its $300 million cable manufacturing facility at Wagner’s Point in South Baltimore, following the strategic acquisition of a 38-acre waterfront site. The project is being executed in phases, with the initial $200 million phase focused on a land cables plant. This pant along others like the one in Chesapeake in Virginia will support the modernization of the U.S. electrical grid and the manufacturing of medium- and high-voltage land cables. Recent milestones include the company joining the Wire & Cable Manufacturers Alliance (WCMA) in April 2026 to deepen its integration into the North American supply chain and the receipt of a $58 million federal tax credit under the Qualifying Advanced Energy Project program.
While initial estimates targeted the end of 2026 for operations, the latest updates indicate the facility is now expected to be fully operational by the second half of 2027. Once complete, the plant will create approximately 120 direct manufacturing jobs and support an additional 250 indirect positions, serving as a critical hub for the offshore wind and energy transition markets.
