New York renewable energy solicitation program continues to support utility-scale clean energy construction across the state as authorities advance projects first initiated under the record-setting procurement rounds announced in 2021. The program originally sought up to 4,000 MW of renewable capacity, including 2,500 MW of offshore wind and more than 1,500 MW of land-based renewable energy projects. The initiative aimed to accelerate construction, strengthen grid reliability, and support New York’s long-term clean energy targets.
New York Renewable Energy Solicitations Update (2026)
As of June 2026, New York remains actively expanding its renewable energy pipeline despite federal policy challenges affecting parts of the offshore wind sector. The state has continued issuing new competitive renewable energy solicitations through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. In April 2026, NYSERDA launched its latest land-based renewable energy solicitation targeting mature wind, solar, and hydroelectric projects that can move quickly into construction. The state reports a development pipeline comprising 61 large-scale renewable projects expected to deliver more than 9 GW of clean energy capacity upon completion.
In parallel, New York recently completed the 100-mile Smart Path Connect transmission project, a major grid infrastructure upgrade designed to facilitate the delivery of renewable power across the state. The project strengthens transmission capacity and supports integration of existing and future renewable generation assets.
The continued expansion of New York’s renewable procurement program aligns with broader national investment trends, including the recently financed Origis Energy Project Pipeline, which secured $900 million to accelerate construction across a portfolio exceeding 20 GW of solar and energy storage projects throughout the United States. Both initiatives highlight growing investment in utility-scale renewable infrastructure and grid modernization.

The nation’s largest coordinated solicitations for land based large-scale renewable energy projects by a US state
In addition to the offshore wind solicitation, the Governor also announced the issuance by NYSERDA and NYPA of the nation’s largest coordinated solicitations for land based large-scale renewable energy projects by a U.S. state, under the State’s ambitious Clean Energy Standard. Together, the combined solicitations from NYSERDA and NYPA seek to procure over 1,500MW of clean, renewable energy, enough to power nearly 500,000 homes. Applicable land-based projects selected will be fast-tracked to construction under groundbreaking legislation passed in the budget to vastly accelerate renewable energy siting to ensure the projects are developed responsibly and quickly so the state meets its CLCPA mandate.
In aggregate, the offshore wind, port infrastructure, and land-based renewable trifecta of solicitations seek to procure approximately 12 million megawatt-hours, enough to power over 1.5 million homes annually. Together, taking into account the value of avoided carbon emissions, these solicitations are expected to deliver a combined US $3bn in net benefits over the 20- to 25-year life of the projects.
