The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has prequalified 20 out of a total of 31 developer/developer consortiums for the 1,392-kilometer Riyadh-Qassim independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) Project that is expected to be completed and fully operational by the third quarter of 2025.
Delivering the news SWPC said that some of the shortlisted companies include top international players such as Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, Marubeni Corporation, Sicim, CNIC Corporation, Gezhouba Group Overseas Investment Company, Harbour Engineering Company, Railway Construction Corporation, and State Construction Engineering Corporation and Norinco just to mention a few.Â
Regional firms such as Abu Dhabi National Energy Company and Utico, which are both from the United Arab Emirates, Gulf Investment from Kuwait, and Lamar Holding – an energy investment company based in Bahrain, were also listed. Hak Pijpleidingen Saudi, Al-Fahd Trading Industries & Contracting, Abdul Aziz Al Ajlan Sons, Al Bawani Water & Power, Al-Rawaf Trading & Contracting, Vision International Invest Company, and Al-Sharif Group also passed the selection.Â
Scope and aim for the Riyadh-Qassim Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) Project
The terms of the contract for the approximately US$ 200MÂ Riyadh-Qassim Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) Project include the provision to the entire transmission capacity of the Saudi utility company under a 35-year water transmission agreement contract.

Kicking it off with this project, the government of Saudi Arabia aims to develop the necessary potable water transmission systems (WTS) network. This system network will comprise interim/terminal storage facilities and pipelines that are located within the Eastern Supply Group to provide essential connectivity between the upcoming distillation plants and the consumption centers.
