Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) is advancing its expansion of cloud infrastructure in the U.S. with a $1 billion investment to develop a major data center campus in Marysville, Ohio, reinforcing the region’s emergence as a critical hub for cloud computing and AI services. The project, located on a 55-acre site in Marysville Innovation Park at 14684 Industrial Parkway, will include two data center buildings totaling about 500,000 sq ft. Construction was previously scheduled to begin in August 2025 with completion slated for 2027. However, latest municipal guidance indicates that construction will commence after infrastructure works in 2026.
AWS also anticipates creating at least 25 direct jobs, supporting additional construction and ancillary roles. Amazon also expects to contribute over $15 million annually to the local school district and city under a 30-year reinvestment area agreement. Additionally, this development is also part of AWS’s broader commitment to invest more than $23 billion in Ohio data center infrastructure by 2030. This is driven by the increasing demand for cloud and AI capacity across the U.S. with other states such as Texas also finding their spot on the heat-map with energy-tech co-located data centers like the new 2 GW Alpha Digital Campus by LandBridge and PowerBridge.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Build New $1B Data Center in Marysville, Ohio
Reported March 11, 2025 – Amazon Web Services (AWS) will invest $1B in Marysville, significantly expanding its data center presence there. The project will include two data center buildings comprising approximately 500,000 square feet at 14684 Industrial Parkway. The 55-acre site is currently owned by the city but will be transferred to AWS, city documents show.
This investment by AWS is a game-changer for Union County and Marysville,” said Marysville City Manager Terry Emery. “It says a lot about our city’s capacity to keep leading-edge technology firms and demonstrates our focus on economic development and job creation.”.
The Marysville City Council recently signed off on a community reinvestment area agreement, which grants AWS a 30-year, 100% property tax exemption on the assessed value of the new facilities. Construction will begin in August with completion slated for 2027.
AWS estimates that in the first two to three years of operations, the new data centers will create 25 jobs, with an additional $2.25 million in city annual payroll.
“As we expand AWS cloud infrastructure in Marysville, we’re proud to recommit to our long-term investment in the state of Ohio,” stated Roger Wehner, vice president of economic development at AWS. “In partnership with state and local leadership, we aim to invest in the community, strengthen the workforce, enhance educational outcomes, and contribute to the future success of the city.”
As part of its investment, AWS will also provide more than $15 million in direct annual payments to the Marysville Exempted Village School District and the city during the 15 years. The company will also invest in infrastructure upgrades at 33 Innovation Park and establish partnerships with local nonprofits.
