The technical and construction works of the Zagazig Power Station, in the eastern part of the Nile delta, Lower Egypt, which has an installed capacity of 11/66/500/220/kV is expected to be completed by the end of August this year (2021).
The project is part of the “Decent Life” initiative for the people of the Egyptian countryside that was recommended by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. It (the project) is being carried out by an Egyptian-Chinese alliance under the supervision of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

The latter is one of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense agencies that is responsible for among other tasks, the development and establishment of major development projects.
Expectations for the project
According to Rabab Fayed, the Chairperson of Giza Misr For transmission & Distribution, which is the Egyptian representative in the Egyptian-Chinese alliance, the Zagazig Power Station will make a qualitative shift in Sharqeya, provide all electricity needs of companies and individuals, and allow electricity into all homes in the villages surrounding the city of Zagazig.
“Power Construction Corporation of China (branded as POWERCHINA) has praised the cooperation with Giza Misr in the implementation of many electrical projects with great efficiency and professionalism,” said the Chairperson of Giza Misr.

POWERCHINA is a wholly State-owned company administered by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and part of the heavy and civil engineering construction industry. It is the company representing China in the Egyptian-Chinese alliance undertaking the Zagazig Power Station project.
