India’s first stainless steel industrial park, which broke ground in December 2022 as an extension of Jindal Stainless’ manufacturing complex in Jajpur, Odisha, continues to feature prominently in the state’s long-term industrialization strategy.
Planned over 271 acres with an investment of around ₹1,500 crore (US$175 million), the park is being developed in two phases. It will create an integrated downstream manufacturing ecosystem capable of hosting more than 100 ancillary and value-added stainless steel industries. The industries will serve sectors such as automotive, construction, food processing, pharmaceuticals, defense and consumer goods. The development is also expected to generate nearly 19,000 jobs while strengthening Odisha’s position as India’s stainless steel manufacturing hub.
As of 2026, although no official commissioning date has been announced, the project remains aligned with Jindal Stainless’ ongoing capacity expansion at Jajpur. It is also expected to benefit from India’s continued policy support for specialty steel manufacturing. India’s first stainless steel industrial park is also expected to expand domestic demand and Odisha’s wider pipeline of major metals investments. This will include new aluminium and green steel projects that are reinforcing the state’s role as one of the country’s foremost industrial clusters such as Adani’s new US$11.5 billion aluminium plant in Odisha.
