The new Cyanide Astroturf park has been inaugurated at Tarkwa, in the Western Region, Ghana. This follows part of the vision to expand sports infrastructure in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality.

The Coastal Development Authority (CODA) provided the funding for the modern pitch and auxiliary facilities. The projects were proposed by the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mr. George Mireku Duker.

Cyanide Astroturf intends to improve the number of young people in the municipality who participate in sports. Additionally, it aims to discover fresh talent and develop rising stars for the national and continental stages.

In his speech, Mr. Duker, who is also a deputy minister of lands and natural resources, thanked God for bringing Tarkwa-Nsuaem’s dream of improving and decentralizing soccer to fruition.

He said, “I promised to serve Wassaman, and I mention this in order to show that we haven’t disappointed or embarrassed ourselves in the eyes of God. Indeed, it’s by God’s grace. I need your help to improve and elevate Wassaman. God has blessed Apinto Division, and we will continue to work toward moving the dream of soccer forward.”

Remarks on the New Cyanide Astroturf

According to Mr. Duker, the stunning Cyanide Astroturf is a blessing for soccer, the economy, and the hospitality sector. He further stated that it will improve the local economy by adding value and creating indirect jobs.

John Paintsil, a former Black Stars deputy captain, stated that the Cyanide Astroturf was appropriate for all sports. He also expressed his gratitude to Mr. Duker for the lovely facility, which was similar to the grass pitch

In addition to the physical initiatives completed by the authority, CODA’s deputy chief executive, Mona Gertrude Effah, was ecstatic that the goals of CODA’s collaborations with Mr. Duker had been met.

The odikrom of cyanide, Nana Atta Kofi Baah, also noted that the Apinto Division was seeing the results of development.
