The state-owned NLC India Ltd made an announcement on Saturday stating that it had secured a contract from SJVN Ltd that will enable them to both develop and operate the NLC India 200MW Wind Project.
This wind power project was secured via an e-reverse auction at a tariff of Rs 3.74 per kWh.
“This upcoming wind power project is expected to generate 526MU of clean energy annually offsetting an equivalent amount of greenhouse gas emissions,” a company statement revealed.

The company has set a target of achieving 10GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2030.

The investments we have put in renewable energy will play a key role in strengthening the green economy of India and also meeting the global climate commitments,” the Managing Director of NLC India Ltd, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, stated.
The company started its renewable energy journey in the year 2013 with its 51MW wind project.
Significance of the Project on NLC India
Winning this wind project marks a significant expansion of NLCIL’s wind energy portfolio. This therefore increases its total wind power capacity to more than 300MW, this is inclusive of ongoing projects.
“This newly secured wind power project is expected to contribute to India’s commitment to increasing its non-fossil fuel-based power generation. This is in line with the National Green Energy Policy and the target of the government of attaining 500GW of non-fossil fuel by the year 2030,” the statement mentioned.
