Phase one implementation of the Thakher Makkah project in Saudi Arabia is reportedly nearing completion. This was revealed by Thakher Development Company master developer of the US$ 7bn project. The company also mentioned that the second phase of the project is expected to be delivered in 2024.
Thakher Makkah project is located on a site just one kilometer from the Grand Mosque. It is also a few kilometers away from Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah holy sites.
An overview of the Thakher Makkah Project
Spaning 320,000 square meters, the Thakher Makkah project is said to be one of the largest in Makkah. It will feature well about 100 land plots. These plots will be for the development of hotels. Commercial, residential and service-related facilities will also be available. The hotel and residential units will be in varying categories. They will also be available for ownership.

Once operational the Thakher Makkah will be home to international hotels brands such as Radisson Hotel. Other hotels include the Novotel Hotel and Park Inn. The project will also flex the largest number of hotel rooms. The project aims to provide a great experience to residents and visitors.The development will also include 124 local and international brands. It will offer shoppers various options. These include cafes, restaurants, and an entertainment center for children.
Thakher Makkah will also have up to 10,000 car parking lots, and a mosque with the capacity to accommodate a total of 5,000 prayers.
The project to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030
The CEO of Thakher Development Company expressed happiness with the project. He stated that it contributes to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The initiative aims to host six million pilgrims by 2030.
