In the Dodoma City Council (DCC) Budget presented recently by Dodoma City Director, Joseph Mafuru for the fiscal year 2022/23, approximately US$ 3M have been earmarked for the construction of Dodoma City Headquarters.

This project according to Mafuru would deliver in the Njedengwa area a better office that will replace the current facility constructed by CDA in 1973, match Dodoma City’s status, and even elevate the capital city’s prestige.

The actual construction of the proposed Dodoma City Headquarters will begin in July this year.

Commitment to not only Dodoma City Headquarters project

In addition to the Dodoma City Headquarters project, Mr. Mafuru stated that the city has emphasized project completion, contributing to people’s strength, establishing productive development projects, boosting the health sector, education, agriculture, and livestock, and enhancing service delivery in remote regions.

In 2021, he added, close to US$ 6M was spent on strategic projects, land surveys, land compensation payments, and social initiatives, referring to the previous year’s budget between July and December.

The budget would also fund the acquisition of three cars to improve tax collection, as well as the purchase of Tsh240mn worth of land surveying equipment. Mr. Mafuru went on to say that the council has also been able to grant loans totaling Tsh1.04bn to 49 different groups, as well as continuing to work on the strategic hotel project known as Dodoma City Hotel.

Investment projects in Mtumba’s government city

In addition, he committed to continue with the building of critical investment projects in Mtumba’s government city, which has reached 90% completion in its first phase. The council has also successfully performed land appraisals in Nala, Mtumba, Kikombo, and Ihumwa, where Tsh 1.32bn was provided as compensation to the people using local monies.

The city inspected 10,339 plots in Ngh’ongh’ona, Hombolo Bwawani, Zuzu, and Mpunguzi during that time period. In addition, it has created 41 land use plans. From July through December of last year, the city granted a total of 8,247 title deeds to various landowners.
