According to a Wednesday report from The Information, Elon Musk’s Spacex company is getting ready for a massive new data center in Texas.

This growth would greatly boost the firm’s AI processing power past its current hub in Memphis, Tennessee (the “Colossus” facility), which runs two locations delivering roughly 1 gigawatt of capacity.

Also, the report states SpaceX evaluated several Texas sites over recent months as it contemplates constructing multiple facilities from scratch or adapting a former warehouse.

These updates follow SpaceX’s AI computing agreements signed with Anthropic back in May and Google in June, expanding its strategy to commercialize its AI hardware.

Additionally, the planned Texas infrastructure might equal or surpass the gigawatt-level power of existing hubs holding hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs.

Furthermore, per The Information, the space tech enterprise has dispatched various current data center employees to Texas to prepare for this growth. With data centers rapidly being planned for Texas, powering them could become an issue. Therefore, this will require the state to develop power facilities to meet their energy demand.
