Washington Dulles International Airport is set to receive a dedicated VIP terminal for commercial airline passengers, in a project that will be developed and operated by Ireland’s daa International.
The 37,000 sq ft facility will offer travelers using scheduled domestic and international flights a private, expedited alternative to the airport’s standard passenger journey. It will be the first dedicated VIP terminal of its kind serving the Washington metropolitan area.
A premium route through the airport
The terminal will offer dedicated parking, a separate entrance, private security screening, personalized check-in and baggage handling. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which operates Dulles, says the service aims to save time while providing greater privacy, comfort and personal assistance.
The facility will serve passengers flying commercially rather than those using private jets. MWAA says the service will complement existing offerings at Dulles and meet growing demand for premium airport experiences.
“The proposed experience is designed to save passengers time while providing greater privacy, comfort and personal assistance,” MWAA said.

Irish operator wins Dulles mandate
daa International, the international airport management and advisory arm of Dublin and Cork airport operator daa Group, will develop, lease and operate the facility.
The company will oversee a 30-month development phase, followed by a 20-year operating term. Its appointment extends the Irish group’s footprint in North America, where its travel-retail business, ARI, recently won the duty-free contract at JFK Terminal 4.
Nick Cole, deputy CEO of daa and CEO of daa International, said the company welcomed the opportunity to lead the project.
“Washington Dulles International Airport plays a vital role in connecting the United States with the world, and we look forward to bringing our international airport experience and operational expertise to the delivery of a VIP facility that reflects the airport’s global standing,” Cole said.
Design and regional impact
The terminal will be designed with global architecture and design firm Corgan. MWAA expects the project to create opportunities for local employment, skills development, suppliers and business partners.
Chryssa Westerlund, MWAA’s executive vice president and chief revenue officer, said the facility reflects a broader shift toward giving travelers more choice in how they move through major airports.
“By introducing this premium service, Dulles is responding to traveler demand, supporting continued growth and joining other leading international airports around the world that offer elevated services for business and leisure travelers alike,” she said.
daa’s global VIP portfolio
The Dulles appointment adds to daa International’s growing portfolio of premium and airport-management projects. The group operates the Platinum VIP private terminal at Dublin Airport, is designing a VIP terminal in Vietnam, and manages Red Sea International Airport in Saudi Arabia.
For Dulles, the project signals a push to compete more directly with major international hubs that already offer dedicated VIP facilities for high-value commercial travelers.
Washington Dulles’ move into dedicated VIP services reflects a wider trend among major U.S. airports to invest in passenger experience alongside core infrastructure. At Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, officials have similarly begun a campus-wide utility upgrade designed to support the airport’s Journey With AUS expansion and accommodate up to 35 million annual passengers.
