This comes as the current administration seems hell-bent in ending lucrative federal tax incentives and delaying permitting for renewables. The Pentagon is also sitting on a growing backlog of dozens of proposed US wind farms and withholding authorizations key for developing the power projects. Though most of Trump’s previously cancelled wind projects such as Empire wind project managed to fight back, some did not manage. For instance, the Lava Ridge wind project in Idaho was cancelled despite making significant advances during the Biden regime. Another that is advancing is the Laramie Range wind project which the Cheyenne City Council has approved to move to the next phase of implementation. However, the project has not yet reached final approval but it is a significant progress. The vote allows Mayor Patrick Collins to execute a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding impact assistance funds associated with the Laramie Range Wind Project. The 170-turbine wind project would be located on more than 56,000 acres 20 miles northwest of Cheyenne.
