Eldoret town in Kenya is currently experiencing a rapid growth of malls with the construction of two shopping malls completed recently and already operational while two others to open by end of the year.
The first shopping mall in the town dubbed Zion mall gave real estate entrepreneurs the encouragement after dozens of traders took up space in the building. It became operational in 2011 and later last year in 2017; the second mall, Rupa Mall, opened for business. Rupa has attracted a wide range of businesses including restaurants and shops.

Currently, two other malls are under construction namely, Highlands Mall and Paradise Mall. The mall’s proprietors confirmed the reports and said that they set up the developments in response to demand from the growing middle class in the area.
“We conducted a market research and found that the growing middle class in this town and its environs needs such services,” said Tim Chesire, Director of Hornbill Investments Limited, the developer of Highlands Mall.
He further pointed out that Highlands Mall which will cost approximately US$ 8m will be the first green building in Eldoret town. Its roof will be made up of solar panels which will ensure energy efficiency.
the mall will also provide services ranging from banking to fast food, fashion, beauty parlous and restaurants among others.
