Two repowered wind farms under construction in Cambria County, Pennsylvania have secured approximately $356 million in construction financing, providing a major funding boost for projects aimed at expanding Pennsylvania’s renewable energy capacity amid rising electricity demand from data centers and other large consumers.

The financing package covers the 61.6-megawatt Cambria Wind Farm in Adams Township and the 75-megawatt Highland North Wind Farm, both of which are being developed by Exus Renewables North America. KeyBanc Capital Markets served as coordinating lead arranger on the transaction alongside a group of financing partners.

Construction is already underway at the Cambria Wind Farm, which is expected to enter commercial operation in the fall of 2026. Highland North, also located in Cambria County, is undergoing a similar repowering effort. Both projects will use turbines manufactured by Vestas.

Rising power demand

The investment comes as utilities, data centers and other large industrial customers seek additional sources of electricity to meet growing power needs. Exus specializes in renewable-energy projects designed to serve data centers and other major energy users.

Exus President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Spencer said demand for clean energy continues to accelerate, particularly among large corporate customers and data center operators, helping attract capital to new projects.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for both wind farms is scheduled for September 2026. Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP served as legal counsel to Exus, while Paul Hastings LLP advised the lending group.

The financing package for Cambria and Highland North comes as investors continue to pour billions of dollars into large-scale renewable projects across the United States. Earlier this month, SunZia—the massive wind and transmission development in New Mexico and Arizona—secured a $546 million preferred-equity investment from Nuveen after entering commercial operation in June 2026. The SunZia complex, which combines a 3.5-gigawatt wind farm with a 550-mile transmission line, ranks among the largest clean-energy infrastructure projects in U.S. history

Together, the two projects will add more than 136 megawatts of wind-generation capacity and further expand Exus’ presence in Pennsylvania. The company currently owns more than 306.9 megawatts of wind capacity in the state, including the 139.4-megawatt Twin Ridges Wind Farm in Somerset County.
