The NEOM Utamo mega-project continues to evolve in Saudi Arabia’s Gulf of Aqaba region as a high-profile immersive arts and performance construction development designed to redefine global cultural infrastructure. The project, located within NEOM’s coastal mountain landscape, focuses on building a futuristic event venue that blends architecture, nature, and advanced digital systems. Moreover, the development supports Saudi Arabia’s wider Vision 2030 strategy to diversify tourism and entertainment offerings through large-scale giga-projects. The concept features a mountain-integrated structure designed for immersive exhibitions, concerts, and artistic performances within a digitally enhanced environment.
Additionally, Utamo forms part of a broader cluster of NEOM developments in the Gulf of Aqaba, alongside projects such as Epicon, Siranna, and Leyja. The initiative positions itself as a global entertainment hub where architecture and performance merge into a single experiential destination. Consequently, the project reflects NEOM’s continued push toward redefining tourism through futuristic construction methods and high-value infrastructure investment.
NEOM Utamo mega-project redefines immersive construction and cultural infrastructure
The NEOM Utamo entertainment mega-project was initially unveiled as an immersive destination carved into a mountainous coastal environment. It is designed to host global artists, exhibitions, and multi-sensory performances in a single integrated venue. Furthermore, the development includes a grand hall accessed through a landscaped promenade featuring over 50 plant species, reinforcing its integration with natural terrain.
In addition, the project incorporates advanced audio-visual systems that enable fully immersive entertainment experiences. These systems allow performances to blend physical staging with digital environments, creating hybrid artistic formats. As a result, Utamo introduces a new typology of entertainment construction where architecture becomes part of the performance itself.
The venue also includes VIP lounges, multipurpose performance halls, and hospitality spaces. Therefore, it is structured not only as a cultural attraction but also as a high-end event and tourism asset within NEOM’s regional development strategy.

NEOM Utamo mega-project integrates sustainability-driven design and global consultancy input
The NEOM Utamo mega-project emphasizes sustainability and minimal environmental disruption in its construction methodology. The development follows NEOM’s wider environmental strategy, which prioritizes preserving natural landscapes while integrating built infrastructure. Consequently, construction techniques are designed to reduce ecological impact within the Gulf of Aqaba mountain terrain.
Moreover, the architectural concept integrates natural formations into the design, ensuring the structure aligns with surrounding geological features. This approach reinforces NEOM’s positioning of Utamo as a “theatre of the future” where built form and nature coexist seamlessly.
The project also involves international design and consultancy expertise, reflecting its global ambition. Therefore, it draws on multidisciplinary teams to support architectural planning, infrastructure design, and immersive experience engineering. This combination strengthens Utamo’s role as a flagship entertainment development within NEOM’s expanding portfolio.
Current status update (2026)
As of 2026, the NEOM Utamo mega-project remains in the advanced planning and design refinement stage within the Gulf of Aqaba masterplan. Initial concept design and consultant selection have been completed, while detailed engineering coordination continues across NEOM’s entertainment corridor developments.
Furthermore, Utamo is being integrated with surrounding projects such as Epicon, Siranna, and Leyja to form a unified tourism and entertainment ecosystem. Construction sequencing is expected to align with broader NEOM coastal development phases, with phased execution dependent on infrastructure readiness and regional development priorities.
Despite evolving timelines typical of giga-projects, Utamo remains a strategic cultural anchor within NEOM’s long-term entertainment and tourism transformation agenda.
Utamo forms part of NEOM’s wider entertainment and cultural construction expansion strategy, which also includes other major developments such as Diriyah’s SAMoCA cultural mega-project, which is redefining Saudi Arabia’s contemporary art infrastructure through large-scale museum construction and urban cultural integration.
The Utamo project coincides with its integration with the other projects unveiled in the Gulf of Aqaba. In November, Neom unveiled Siranna which will be a 65-key hotel, the project will also feature 35 residences to host tourists. The overall infrastructure design and architectural consultancy are being provided by Australian Woods Bagot and Singapore’s Meinhardt Group respectively. The announcement followed the launch of Epicon Towers, a masterpiece tower in Araba. The scope of the Epicon Towers entails the construction of Twin Towers. The scope also entails the height of the towers being 275 meters and 225 meters in height. Furthermore, it is expected to have 14 residential suites and apartments.
