An agreement has been signed for the development of the Lucid Group EV production plant in Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed between Al Bawani and Lucid Group, Inc.

Al Bawani is a diversified group of Saudi companies. The group provides pre-construction, project management, engineering, designing, fire alarm installation, and building maintenance services.

Lucid Group, Inc, on the other hand, is an American electric vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Newark, California. The company, reportedly, has one of the longest range as well as fastest charging electric cars on the market today.

Development of the Lucid Group EV production plant in Saudi Arabia

The agreement between Al Bawani and Lucid Group facilitates the construction of Lucid’s first international production plant in Saudi Arabia. Work on the first phase of the project has already begun at the 1.3 million sqm site located in the King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

Al Bawani explained that this and future phases are expected to consist of many buildings across Lucid’s campus at KAEC. The buildings will create a home for the American company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing process in the kingdom.

Expectations for the facility

The facility is expected to manufacture well about 155,000 vehicles per year. It will also offer job opportunities to several thousand people that will majorly be Saudi citizens.

Additionally, the Lucid Group EV production plant in Saudi Arabia will reportedly help the country achieve its strategic objective of transforming as well as diversifying its economy. This, the country plans to achieve through the progressive development of transportation and sustainable energy.
