Apple has announced the construction of two new facilities in Culver City and Los Angeles. Real estate sector analysts predicted that the development of more than 550,000 square feet in two contiguous buildings would be greater. The plots of land are currently primarily occupied by modest retail and light industrial buildings, which are bordered by Venice, National, and Washington boulevards. Apple has not specified a timetable for when the facility would be operating, simply noting that it is currently in its early phases. Once finished, the Culver City facility will serve as the company’s regional headquarters.

The company built its first headquarters in Culver City in 2014, and it now employs over 1,500 people in the Los Angeles region. Apple leased a 128,000-square-foot office facility in Culver City in 2018, located at 8777 Washington Boulevard, roughly two blocks away from the new complex. Members of the Apple TV Plus and Apple Music teams, engineers, artificial intelligence/machine learning researchers, and employees from other divisions work in the Culver City site. According to Apple, the new Culver City/Los Angeles campus, like all of its buildings, would integrate ecologically efficient construction elements and be powered entirely by renewable energy.

While the tech giant has not stated if the facility would include production studios, the location places Apple near to where many TV series and movies are produced. Culver City is a film production hub and the headquarters of Sony subsidiary Columbia Pictures. It intends to employ 3,000 people in the region by 2026. Apple already employs 1,500 people in the region. Beats Electronics was located in Culver City, California, and was purchased by Apple in 2014 in its biggest acquisition to date. According to Apple, the new headquarters will be located on National Boulevard and Venice Boulevard, close to public transit.
