Firethorn Trust, an investor, and developer, has chosen McLaren Construction Group to build the Sherburn42 development in Leeds. This will be 660,000 square feet of logistics warehousing in West Yorkshire.

The contract for the Sherburn42 development in Leeds is McLaren’s first for a Firethorn development. It will see the delivery of four high-spec Grade-A units ranging in size from 57,750 to 280,000 square feet.

The 37-acre site is adjacent to the Sherburn Enterprise Park in Leeds. Consequently, it will be built to net-zero carbon standards with an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.

“We take pride in creating industry-leading schemes for occupiers. This is while effectively responding to evolving market demands,” said Paul Martin, Development Director at Firethorn. “Not only does McLaren have the expert capability to accelerate Sherburn42, but the team has illustrated a shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation.”

With full planning permission received last month, the teams will move the project forward with McLaren and start work on-site soon. This will put us on track for completion by Q4 2023.

“We are very happy to be appointed by forward-thinking developers, Firethorn, on this important development, located in one of the most sought-after, accessible locations in North Yorkshire,” said Gary Cramp, managing director of McLaren Construction Midlands & North.

“The four high-quality Grade-A industrial units will create an attractive, fit-for-purpose, sustainable workspace. This will be a win for multi-national distributors and ambitious small and medium-sized enterprises. Consequently, it will provide fantastic opportunities for the region’s workforce. We look forward to establishing a long-term relationship with Firethorn and collaborating on this historic project.”
