The Kheng Grou Dam project in Figuig, a province in the Oriental Region of Morocco, is well underway following the appointment of Novec, the result of the merger between the companies Ingéma and Scet-Scom, of which CDG Développement is the reference shareholder, by the Hydraulic Development Department (DAH) to carry out the technical studies of the project.

This comes barely a year after the choice of Bioui Travaux, a SARL under Moroccan law operating in the construction sector, in 2020 as the contracting authority.

Responsibility of Novec

Novec shall prepare the calculation notes and execution plans necessary for the construction of the Kheng Grou Dam, ancillary structures, and the final access road to the dam. The company will also be responsible for monitoring the hydraulic scale model tests, checking the plans and calculation notes made by the manufacturer of the hydro-mechanical and electromechanical equipment, and establishing geological and geotechnical studies.

The Moroccan company will also take care of the counting and interpretation of the auscultation measurements during the implementation phase of the project, and assist the client (Bioui Travaux) during the tests of the hydro-mechanical and electromechanical equipment and the interpretation of the results of the inspections and tests of this equipment during the whole process.

Cost and Capacity of the Kheng Grou Dam project

The Kheng Grou Dam Project is being implemented under the Priority drinking water supply and irrigation program 2020-2027 that aims to build 20 water reservoirs in the North African country.

The dam according to DAH will be constructed at a cost of nearly US$ 98M, and it is expected to have a capacity of 1.069 million m3 upon completion.
