Construction has begun on a $130M convention center in Valley Ranch, set to boost business and event opportunities in East Montgomery County.

The Valley Ranch Convention Center is a planned events and conference facility under construction in East Montgomery County, Texas, intended to expand the region’s capacity for business gatherings, exhibitions, and large-scale public events.

Construction on the approximately $130 million project began in January 2025 and is expected to be completed by October 2026. The development is being delivered by SpawGlass on behalf of the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID).

The facility is located in the Valley Ranch Entertainment District near the Interstate 69 and Grand Parkway interchange in Montgomery County. The project site covers approximately nine acres purchased for development.

According to project details, the convention center will span about 210,000 square feet and will include a main exhibit hall and ballroom, meeting spaces, and pre-function and lobby areas designed for flexible event configurations. The facility will replace a smaller existing venue in the region.

Project projections indicate that the development is expected to support increased event activity and contribute to local economic activity through job creation, visitor spending, and associated tax revenues over the long term.

Other Projects

Event infrastructure across the country has seen a surge in modernization investments. On August 21, 2025, Kentucky Venues unveiled new expansion and renovation renderings, marking one year into its $460 million transformation.

Another project that is making headway despite setbacks is the $3.5bn+ Dallas Convention center project. However, the project is currently up for a redesign debate following its blocking of the Jefferson Viaduct if current plans are upheld. The city council is expected to be involved in a tensed voting decision this week on Wednesday.

The strategic location of the building offers better accessibility – just 25 minutes from downtown Houston, 10 minutes from The Woodlands, and 15 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport. It will have an 813-car parking garage, with potential for an on-site hotel in the future.

Signorelli Company CEO Danny Signorelli pointed to the project’s significance as a catalyst for Valley Ranch growth, noting it will attract additional retail, restaurant, and entertainment development on nearly 200 acres. It will be the seventh-largest convention center in Texas upon completion.

The convention center is the newest component of Valley Ranch’s expanding entertainment options, which include the upcoming Lumos location – a 45,000-square-foot entertainment complex under construction in a former Sam’s Club store, opening summer 2024. The entire Valley Ranch development includes 1,400 acres of residential and commercial properties. Its Entertainment District and Town Center combined offer 1.75 million square feet of mixed-use space for retail, restaurant, office, and entertainment venues.
